Last year Metalworks was dubbed Urbanworks when songwriter/producer Rodney Jerkins and his crew took over our studio to write and record original compositions for Universal Pictures’ Honey. Jerkins has created hits for artists including Britney Spears, Toni Braxton, Brandy,Monica, Mary J. Blige and Jennifer Lopez.

Metalworks was graced with visits by participating artists: Ginuwine, Tweet, A. Marie, Third Storee and others.

Honey, scheduled for release December 5, 2003, stars Jessica Alba (television's Dark Angel) as Honey Daniels, a dancer and choreographer working as a bartender and record store clerk until she gets that one break. Honey also stars Lil' Romeo and Mekhi Phifer (8 Mile), with cameo appearances by hip hop/R&B stars Missy Elliott, Ginuwine, Third Storee, Sean Desmond, Tweet, and Jadakiss and Sheek of The L.O.X.

Bille Woodruff, who has directed music videos for stars including Usher, Britney Spears and Toni Braxton, debuts as a feature film director with this multi-ethnic contemporary urban drama. Veteran filmmaker Marc Platt (Legally Blonde) and music mogul Andre Harrell (Strictly Business) are producing Honey.
